WTB - Heater parts for 1970 VW Beetle
vinsueball - June 18th, 2013 at 08:24 PM

Hi Folks,
Just wondering if anyone can help me out with:

  1. A set of Bakerlite heater connector tubes that comes through under the rear seats
  2. 2 - The valve that sits inside the left hand rear heater junction piece that directs heat down the main passenger side sub-frame

The first item has been damaged in the resto but can perhaps be repaired with fibreglass. The second item (the valve) is missing totally and if I can't get a replacement I'll have heated air constantly pumping into the cabin.

Can anybody help with these parts or tell me where I may be able to locate them ?

I'm located in the northern Brisbane suburbs.

Cheers

Hi
I don't think they are available new..
but there should be many of the parts available from people who have pulled a 68> beetle apart..
unless they were labelled unimportant and were trashed..
as were many little things that don't normally wear out.. lol
there would have been a lot of these gone into the trash with rusted out chassis....

Not sure about what number two is..??
I know there are valves/flaps both sides which turn the HOT air on in the back... [used them tonight].. lol

when You PULL the heater lever UP - You turn the HOT air ON.. which comes in the front floor and windscreen..

PULL the other lever UP which opens the two rear seat flaps/valves.. which fill the car with HOT air..
[is that what You need? one of those??]

BUT unless the HEATER is turned ON first... NO HOT AIR comes out the rear outlets...?? I always pull both Levers UP..!
they are just connected to the heater channels, so when the heater is turned off, no hot air from the heater boxes..

This is with a 1968>> ON Beetle... with two levers...

cheers

LEE

Hi Guys,
These are the parts I'm after.

This is the bakerlight connection. Even if I could just get the drivers side unit would be good.

This is the valve unit I'm after for the passenger side. Just the valve not the housing.

Any chance do you think ?

Would appreciate it. Let me know how you go ? Only other option I've got at the moment is to try to fabricate something.

Cheers
