Where can I get a RHD DashBoard
johndoe980 - October 24th, 2013 at 11:02 PM

Hi All,

I have a LHD 1964 Karmann Ghia that I need to change to RHD,
Does anyone know where I get a RHD Dashpanel?

Thanks,
Tony

Sadly the only logical place, unless someone has a dash from wrecked one lying about, is probably off a donor vehicle. And these days I don't think people would be wrecking them much.

Surely a skilled metalworker could cut/weld/fabricate the bits from one side and move them to the other side for you. All the bits should be the same just on the wrong side. I've seen some very wild custom dashes on cars - maybe places that do hot rod fabrication or similar may be able to engineer something.

i found someone who had cut out a RHD dash out of a KG but they are few and far between!

Plenty in the UK were they rusted from the door handles down, try advertising on the UK forums for one.

Rhd dash was just cut in sections & swapped over, if you can get the dash blasted on both sides & look carefully you will see the seams, then there's the pressing for the steering column, same process

We did the opposite, had a RHD but wanted it LHD, so did the most logical thing..............

Would you consider a fiberglass dash?

This would have been the go then sell the rest of the parts off, but looks like sold...

I have seen the RHD gloveboxes and If I go down the road of cutting mine up , I will buy one of those.
I just hate the thought of cutting up the dash and making it look like rubbish.

One question. Why? Couldn't register as a lhd if made from a rhd.

Why change it , keep it left hook , not hard driving around on that side . Save yourself some money ?
