FREE DRAG RACING ENGINE
RodPenrose - April 22nd, 2014 at 07:14 PM

I am having a clean up here and have way too many good engines here that are not getting used . So , I have decided to donate a complete turn key 2276 cc carburetted dyno tuned engine to someone that needs it .
The engine is a full pro-stock style engine with a wedgemated crank , new carrillo's , magneto , exhaust , mega heads , clutch and 51 mm carbs . This engine should be in the 230-240 HP range and will be supplied with a dyno report .
The new owner will need to have a car or be building a purpose drag racing car , need a really good transmission to handle the power and must have a basic knowledge of how the VW engine works . This engine will have lots of compression and will require race gas and it will not have any tinware or be street drivable . This is a serious engine for someone that wants to have some fun without breaking their budget . Please let me have your proposal and I will get this organised , ROD. 02-42729920 .

Have to take my hat off to you Rod, that is a fantastic offer for someone. I wish I had more time and a spare car :yes::yes::yes:

Just for those thinking of this, does it have to be NSW based so you can keep track of it etc

Couldn't imagine anyone else promoting the vw sport with this much generosity :tu: :tu::tu::tu::tu::tu::tu:

Well done, Kev

That's awesome Rod! You should send it up here to frosty! He's got a super sedan teched car, that motor would really do it justice!

T-34 - April 22nd, 2014 at 08:58 PM

I need an engine for my oval salt racer project. Currently set up with a 915 trans, full cage built to DLRA specs.

reub - April 22nd, 2014 at 09:08 PM

Surely someone over here in the west could use it...

ocdrbug - April 22nd, 2014 at 09:26 PM

MMM! This would mean my OCDRBUG could run VW POWER instead of Subaru  and that means I could still race at SCG Meets now that Sportsbike & Prosportsbike has been canned.

fish26 - April 22nd, 2014 at 09:27 PM

bugzla - April 24th, 2014 at 09:19 AM

or if you had a good track engine for a circuit car as we have a series here in townsville all the penrose racing stickers you can place on the car plus one AutObarn one for the company I work for .......... for advertising

empi - April 24th, 2014 at 11:00 AM

Really need an engine for the Ascort project..... there needs to be some competition for the bloke in S.A. that drags the blue Ascort.... Have all the other light weight bits and bobs to go on the car.

Failing this i have a Karmann Ghia and a Manx that would also be budding donors!!:love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love:

Allbones - April 24th, 2014 at 11:27 AM

Pm sent. This is exciting. :D

RodPenrose - April 25th, 2014 at 10:46 AM

Thanks to all that have shown some interest and that have contacted me and sent me in the proposal . I am in the process of sorting through some of the issues with some people and I will let you all know who the lucky new owner will be real soon . I have had some interesting proposals and I wish I had more to offer so I will get this one out of the way first and see if I can help anyone else out . I am hoping this may be up and running with in a month or so , ROD.

bugmaniaar - April 25th, 2014 at 10:52 AM

humpty - April 26th, 2014 at 03:59 PM

Who ever the lucky dubber is, I congratulate you way in advance... Having put my hand up for this, I hope it's me, but who ever gets this amazing opportunity, make the most of it.... Get it out there at every event you can, give Rodney the props he deserves, and most importantly.... Have a ball!

Craig Torrens - April 26th, 2014 at 05:46 PM

keep blowing the smoke Humpty, hopefully Rodney's arse is pointing in your direction :lol::lol:

Allbones - April 26th, 2014 at 07:52 PM

Whether it's me or not (I can dream can't I), I'd like to see it go to someone who isn't already involved in racing to bring more people into the sport.

Cheers, John.

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - April 28th, 2014 at 07:40 PM

Very generous of you Rod! Good luck to all those who have expressed interest!

RodPenrose - April 28th, 2014 at 08:57 PM

Well , Morgan called past last weekend looking for a free engine , so I offered this N/A one to him and he said that it wasn't good enough or fast enough for him . He went looking in the back of my garage and found this one that he likes . If that wasn't good enough for him , he than wanted me to deliver it , so here it is on the back of my truck ready for delivery , ROD.

RodPenrose - April 28th, 2014 at 08:58 PM

Now , all he has to do is to make it fit , ROD.
