Wrecking 73 Kombi. Most stuff there, running 1800 engine/box/rear panels
pfillery - June 29th, 2014 at 11:49 AM

Parting a 73 Bay. Has frontal accident damage so pretty much everything up to the beam down low is cactus. Some dash bits ok. Has good running 1800 engine and box, near new German muffler, sliding door and p/s front door ok, good side flippers x 3, good glass, rear door and hatch, could be some good body cuts too, roof is rust free by the looks of it. Rear section could be used for a trailer or IRS conversion, rear panels have also been used to make TV cabinets etc. No rear seats, non genuine fronts. Has all driveline bits there. Front beam looks ok, disc brake front end. Parts priced from a few bucks upwards.

PM or email Paul if interested in anything. Brisbane northside at Caboolture.

The usual unfortunately. Has plenty of wear, cracks and bits broken on it. Would suit restoration or as a spare but if it was any good I'd be putting it on mine.

Initially if the engine is as good as I've been told, the pipes etc will stay with that as its a complete 1800 with carbs and gearbox, if theres any issues/doubt with the motor then the parts would be available.

Talk about a fixer upper.....not.

Body could be repairable but I'm pretty sure its bent the chassis at the front. Also plenty of rust under the sliding door.

pfillery - July 8th, 2014 at 01:36 PM

Body is too far gone for repairs.

As such body cuts are available, roof metal is good if you are converting a camper back to a tin top, rear vents are good and straight, most of the bodywork will end up scrapped, particularly the front bits.

All running gear is still available, hopefully engine will be checked this weekend.

pfillery - July 9th, 2014 at 05:18 AM

Got one side flipper in as new condition or close to it, fronts would be straight into mine if it had them.

Paintings are pretty good, was professionally done by an aboriginal artist from up north, I looked him up online.

Special Air Service - July 9th, 2014 at 08:31 AM

Hey Paul,

Wouldn't have a spare wheel / tyre strap?

pfillery - July 9th, 2014 at 12:43 PM

No sorry I don't. Was set up inside as a camper so the back is all covered in for a mattress to sit there. I plan to make one for mine using a late 60's bug rear seat hold down strap, very similar fittings and strap colour.

Special Air Service - July 9th, 2014 at 05:43 PM

Thanks mate, have thought about doing similar, but trying to get the real deal first.

Cheers

Yellowbug65 - July 9th, 2014 at 06:44 PM

Do you still have all the glass and sliding door and I could use a few body cuts
Cheers

pfillery - July 10th, 2014 at 07:07 AM

All the glass except the windscreen is available. 1 mint condition flipper window from the sliding door, the others are good. Sliding door is pretty good, can't see much rust but has been repaired so may be a bit hidden, generally the undamaged panels are very good.

What body cuts did you want? PS step is gone and front of car is accident damaged but cabin backwards is all pretty good.

Yellowbug65 - July 10th, 2014 at 06:03 PM

I'll let you know what cuts , the usual spots , behind wheel arch on drivers rear quarter , top of front screen if not badly bent , drivers floor , I am yet to pickup my kombi ( got no space to store it , looking for a shed lol ) but I will have a look at it again tomorrow , the dashboard I need also and most interior panels, hood lining etc
Cheers

Looks ok. Removed intact with all wires. Switches feel nice. Condition of cowl and knobs is good.

Drivers side has some rust not sure on passenger side. Not sure if I'll try the whole roof as a cut first, depends what it all looks like on closer inspection.

kombikid87 - July 12th, 2014 at 06:52 AM

yer mate not a drama let me know if you find out its ok and you want to part with that section !
cheers

kombivw - July 12th, 2014 at 07:21 AM

Hope when you cut, that you keep a piece of the Dot art for a tin sign for the Shed mate. Great job

What is condition of Driver & passenger mirrors and how much ?

Cheers

David

pfillery - July 12th, 2014 at 10:30 AM

Will do kombikid.

The artist is actually a bona fide aboriginal artist. Car was done 8 years ago up north, I googled the artist and he has signed his work on the bus. So will be trying to keep a few sections if I can, probably from the main side panel on the passenger side.

Only had one mirror and I recall it might be a plastic one not steel or chrome.

kombivw - July 12th, 2014 at 10:40 AM

Pic shows chrome one mate
Can you check

Wouldnot mind a cut thrown in of art as well :-)

And I am not kombi kid lol

Was replying to you as well as another user (kombikid) sorry for any confusion.

Mirror is plastic painted with silver paint. Cheap aftermarket head maybe, not sure but definitely plastic.

Drivers side has some good pics on it. Have to see how easy it will be to get some cuts from that side with complete scenes.

Engine is a good runner. Connected up a fuel tank to the motor and some basic wiring and she started. So if anyone's chasing an 1800 type 4 bolt in solution there is one here, open to fair offers.

pfillery - July 31st, 2014 at 07:19 AM

About to start cutting this up a little if anyone's after body cuts, panels etc. Or aboriginal artwork!

Yellowbug65 - August 4th, 2014 at 08:04 PM

Hey , what's the floor like on drivers died after accident
Cheers

pfillery - August 5th, 2014 at 07:18 AM

Front floor is good if you like your knees next to your ears while driving.....

Its all crushed in at the front down low, hasn't reached the beam and left the roof intact but to give you an idea, the brake and clutch pedals are sitting all the way down on the floor but are in their correct resting positions, so its at least moved 8 inches up and inwards.

Cargo area floor is pretty good, straight with minimal rust.

wiseoldub - August 5th, 2014 at 08:19 PM

How much for the box?
