I have a nice compact steel roof rack for sale. I believe it is 70s vintage. Made by AB Eric Joos Sweden. Simple design. Height and width adjustable.
Fits a bay kombi nicely so I'd say would also fit a splitty and probably a beetle or type 3 too as there's a fair bit of adjustment. I dry fitted it
to my kombi and it looks the business, currently ratty paint and only a little light surface rust in places, you could strip and pant easily. Can put
up some pics as well as minimum and maximum width and height. I'm led to believe these are rather rare, I've googled and can't find the exact
design. Has all gutter mounts, bolts and fittings there. In any event racks that fit kombis seem to be in high demand and for big $$$. $150 or best
offer above or below that amount. Pickup Brisbane or willing to pack for courier.
Will put pics up tomorrow.
I'm interested pls
I look forward to pics tomorrow.
cheers
If it fits a '59 beetle I too would be interested, looking foward to pics.
Cheers
Width of the rack part itself is 980mm
Length of the rack is 1020mm
Distance between mounts 600mm (along the length from front to back of the car when fitted)
Minimum gutter mount width 1080mm
Maximum gutter mount width 1520mm (the mounts slide into the tubes and lock in with bolts
Rack height from mounts is almost 200mm
Photo shows it sitting on my bay. Bars are just above the roof. The way it is made the tubes can be curved or bent to suit the vehicle if needed. The
mounts come apart so could be extended to clear the roof.
As I don't know the width of a beetle, I can't say whether it will fit with the curve of the roof. Also the ends (at front and back of the car)
hinge upwards for smaller loads or down for long loads as pictured.
Would be a pretty unique rack, I've not seen another like it. Also looks to be galvanised or plated.
erm no pass..
thanks for the pics
