Wanted Gearbox

I am after a swingaxle gearbox from a late 1300 Beetle 1974 - 1976 Serial number will have AT or AS prefix.and it will have the tube for the release bearing.

I think AS and AT are IRS gearboxes.

I want it for a 1968 beetle which has a 2 litre type 4 motor (upright conversion). I am after the 3.875 diff ratio, so called "freeway flier" gearing, but I am retaining the swing axles. The clutch needs the tube guide for the release bearing. Any info gratefully received. Thanks. Rob.

Hi Rob,
The 1300 late swinger has a 4.375 diff (ring and pinion).
The 3.875 diff was only available with the Type , 1 late '73 on IRS boxes.
What you will need is a 3.875 ring and pinion fitted to a swing axle box.
