WTB - Gene Berg throttle linkage wanted
Camo - October 10th, 2015 at 07:10 PM
Hi all,
just wondering if anyone has one of these (see link below) that they are willing to sell.
Prefer the Sydney area so I can look at it and pick it up at the same time. If elsewhere, please still let me know and also what you want $$

Why not order one directly from Gene Berg?

Just don't want to wait that long for it to arrive
If no one has one or it's to pricey here, then maybe

I ran one of these on my Ghia, but unfortunately it does push on the carb lever the same both sides due to the bend in the linkages, when under load
they can move off centre and changes the amount the carbs open on each side, the other issue is they mount on the fan shroud, not exactly a good
place as this moves all over the place as it heats up and cools down, I do not understand the high opinion these are held in, I sold it to a friend of
mine even though I told him of the issue, he installed it on his kombi and had the same issues, it was removed and replaced with a better design from
CB Performance, I run a both the CB performance and the CSP centre pull linkage, both in my opinion are better than the gene Berge item.

Excellent feedback thank you and glad you posted this up. The last thing I want is more issues.
Had another friend call me and tell me to go the CSP centre pull, so will look more into that.
Cheers, Kev

I got mine from VS its pretty much a CSP copy with bearings etc, it arrived in 3 days and the quality is second to none.

I run the CSP on my Ghia with good results, does not go out tune as some people claim with centre mount linkages, I had to modify the CSP linkage to
fit my engine but works very well, you can see by the picture I had to lengthen the linkage rod on the drivers side due the tall manifolds

I've run all the linkage types and the Berg is the only one that doesnt go out of adjustment, never moves and had the softest throttle feel.
Sounds to me you may have been running the wrong carb rods, didnt set it up right or had it bolted to a Scat fan shroud.

Why not try the pulley system type of linkage...

By the way it is attached to the fan shroud, any fan shroud is a major problem in its self. correct rods and mounted to a genuine vw fan shroud
originally.
