ruckus - October 4th, 2004 at 03:23 PM

where can you get Cb performance parts for a decent price in Melbourne? Or do you have to get them over the net?

Ruckus.... Vintage Vee Dub in Sydney have most of the CB parts available.

Ah yes, or bring them in yourself (take into account freight and possible taxes/GST etc you may incur though). Do a price comparison for what it costs you to buy it from a supplier here vs what it would cost you to bring it in yourself (I have brought a lot in due to difference in costs). As long as your order is under around US$100-150 approx they usually (don't quote me) don't charge you duty etc - but it is luck of the draw really.

The killer with CB is there insistence to ship UPS. I found a guy selling on The Samba that seems to resell most CB stuff and is willing to ship USPS. And get this he has US$249 CB strokers. I ordered my stroker and turbo header from him last week. US$49 shipping for the crank and $79 shipping for the header and a few other things (Ti retainers and IDF 34mm vents).

I don't know the guy, but was simply very happy with the service. A thread on Shoptalk Forums doesn't have a bad word against him as far as I could tell. Now to save for the those CNC wedge port heads, and to pray the 6-8 weeks (sic) USPS economy shipping gets here before chrissy.

His email addy is gscco@msn.com, name Stephen Houston.

Their "super race cranks" are already nitrided (if that's what ya mean).

Certainly won't hurt to get it checked out though!

Hi, I have got the following over the net and when the dollar is good (around 70+) it works out a lot cheaper. I have done it both ways, over the net on visa and on the phone and all my stuff has arrived promptly. The problem is you dont know exactly when they will put the money through so the conversion may vary the price a little. There are things that are excluded from import duty and if you car is old enough (Like my 54) lots of things are exempt. I would definately look into buying direct.
I have bought
CB SUPERCASE 94mm Clearanced and full flow oil
Street Eliminator Heads
78mm super race Crank
Total Seal Rings
And other bits and peices.
Hope this helps
