Kadrons To Be Rebuilt
71superbug - October 26th, 2004 at 10:20 AM

Hey. i am chasing someone or a place in perth that can help me out.

i would like my kadrons rebuilt. only i think that $450 is way way too much. considering u can buy the rebuild kits for what? 50 bucks?

is there anyone in perth that is able to rebuild kadrons and would do so for a carton of beers or some money??

it seems rediculous to pay such a huge amount of money.

any help appreciated..

Anthony

Hi A,

Get the kit and do it yourself. Its just like putting a model kit together with quite easy to follow instructions. And the second one will be alot easier...
Now i have'nt personally done Kadrons but have done a 780 Rochester 4 barrel from a 350......

the kits come with instructions? :s. the guy at the shop conveniently failed to mention that.

hehe. well i will pick up the kit either way. to give them a fresh breath of air..

and if i get stuck i could perhaps let u have a look at it?...maybe?

All kits come with detailed instructions matie. Ring around and see who has the best price first(ie Coventry's etc) or you might try someone from over east to post you out one.

I'll give you a hand or even 'Seagull' on here is a wizz when it comes to things mechanical.

Why do they need re-kitting anyway? Could just need a through clean with some carb cleaner and tightening up?

Do it yourself, I did mine a while back and it only took about 2hr, 3 beers and fighting off the naging wife for having the Kads on the dining table.

Im with splitdesision....

Why are you rebuilding them and what do you want to achieve.

You are comparing apples and oranges to compare your job -v- the shops. Are you reaming out and fitting bushes? New shaft if req? Hot tanking? checking jets sizes? Getting the float EXACTLY right etc etc $450 for both carbs is not a lot of $$$ for the carb man at $60/hr

You will end up replacing lots of bits that are probably ok. You may even fix some bits and stuff other bits up.

Good to learn how they work.

Why?

Or to be more explicit - what's wrong with them?
