sell/swap: weber 40dcn w/manifolds, bosch 009 distributor and gt40t coil.
Starbug - November 2nd, 2004 at 03:45 PM

ive got a weber 40dcn driving my little 1600tp at the moment, its just too big and its guzzling fuel much too fast for my liking... my bug just isnt holding up on the fuel economy bit!!

so... if anyone out there has a stock 32pict (?) carby and manifolds with a distributor and coil to suit, in vgc, who would like to swap for my weber/manifolds/dizzy and coil... let me know:)
otherwise, ive got all the above to sell!
im in brisbane.

Maybe your jetting of the carbs isn't correct. I'd check that first.

Is your exhaust very black and sooty or black and wet? Does it look like a heat wave is coming from the exhaust when you look at the exhausts from 3 metres back? If it does your probably running too rich and this will kill fuel economy.

Cheers

Hi Starbuggy,

I am interested in taking the weber 40DCN and manifold to suit however I do not have anything to trade unless you want twin Kadrons that I need to get rid of! Some how I don't think they will fix your fuel economy:P. Let me know your asking price and I will get back to you asap! I will be at the Gold Coast Dub Club Show and Swap, I will be the one on the mic and running around trying to organise things.

Cheers
Greig

I have had a look at this little bug and the weber is quite overjetted. It kills plugs constantly. It also requires hood jax type thingos that let rain into the k & n filter. The 009 / weber combo may work on a big bore go get 'em engine however this can get driven to work, started in the cold (weber has no choke) expected to idle in traffic ( no idle circuit to speak of) This weber is the twin barrel race type fuel bucket, not the cortina/progressive one. It could be rejetted but the stuffing about to get it right would be a big PIA, and still it would not suit the driving this little red bug does. The progressive driving of the standard '68 carby and vacuum dizzy will be heaps better than the weber in the real world.

My $0.02c

Just change the carby to a 32 - 34 pic carby. Keep the rest, 009's etc run fine on 1600's.
