Gearboxes anyone??
marty_08 - December 4th, 2004 at 04:51 PM

Does anyone know where i can get a gearbox for a 1600 twin port engine (AS 41), it's a swing axle floor pan (no idea if Type 1,2 or 3 - how do u tell?)?
Mine has had a heart attack at the hands of a mechanic who had my Manx for 10 days to do a simple service (as i have just purchased it and wanted a 'professional' to give it a once over b4 i started tinkering with it). Paid good money to get it back with no reverse!!!:repuke

Got a quote for $1500 to re-co the current one -->pricey??:duh

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.:kiss:beer:beer

Looked in the opening behind the seats and everything is in good order there so must be something more terminal but... Not sure if the shaft still stuck in as i took it back to the mechanic and nicely asked him to diagnose what he did to it!!!

The $1500 quote was through vintage VW at campsie, i thought $850-950 more reasonable???

Interested in Flintstone's U2U so pls check reply mate.
