NigeType3 - January 4th, 2005 at 01:56 PM

Hi all dose anyone do a battery rust repair panel for a 1971 type 3 squareback. Any info on any rust repair panels avaliable in Australia would be cool.
I know type 3 dectectives have them but would prefer local if avaliable.

I think thats your best bet m8, otherwise the only thing to do is find a donor.

Hi Nige,

Why don't you look around for a donor Square and cut out what you need/have ample spares for the future, it will probably work out more cost effective- Wayne

I reckon the chances of finding a good battery tray floor piece in a donor car will be pretty slim. They all rust in this area first. If you are not too fussy about originality you can just weld in a piece of flat sheet steel. As its under the back seat, the only place you will see it is from under the car.

Yer have thought of that but will be moving soon into new house and no room for a spare car. But if I brake it up fast it is still an option.
If ya now anyone who has one let me know.
Realy I could do with a new body as the only thing wrong with floor pan is the battery area. The body though is going to get weilded all over the place and the more I strip the more I find.
