Anyone know a place that carries solex rebuild / repair kits for unloved carbies?

Mick Motors. Bought kits for the 32PDSITs on my fasty. But most of the VW suppliers will probably stock them.

Australian VW Performance Centre has the Kombi ones (which according to them is pretty much identical) for $75 for the pair

bought a rebuild kit from micks a couple of months ago it was about 26 bucks for a 28 - 34 pict solex.
