hmmm finally getting some new shoes are we?
Pssst just a hint, id be saving your old ones, just for an emergency.

Cant wait for pics...any hints would be great, size, bling?

blutopless2 - January 14th, 2005 at 01:55 PM

Hmmmmm well ..... spoke too soon ....... ordered some really HOT chromey spokey 18 inch things and when the tyre people tried to put them on they wouldn't fit !!!!!! The offset was wrong (thought that they would have KNOWN that before they told me I could get them !!!!!!!).

Change of plan on supplier, looks like I will have to buy some German ones instead, so back to the drawing board ......

I want 19 inch wheels but Rod said NO ...... Boring !!!!!

Trace

Y2K - January 14th, 2005 at 09:18 PM

doh your boring rod...trace must have 19's...its just a huge MUST

yeah the offset becomes a prob...just got adjustable coilovers put on yesterday and miriam looks heaps better. but the offset of the wheels is stopping it from going futher...hehehe not for long:D

hey do ya want some H&R 50mm springs

blutopless2 - January 15th, 2005 at 03:09 PM

me ??? boring???? nope... not me... just the bank manager...

when they rang trace to tell her the wheels didn't fit she asked me if they were stupid or something... lol.. i said that the offset may have been wrong... apparently some makers do a compromise between subaru & VW with the offsets... then they make one wheel instead of two. so talking to this new supplier we just have to sort out the style we want - he's going to photoshop some mags onto the beetle for us so that we can make a choice that way.

how much do your springs lower by?? dont wanna go too low as i still wanna drive it.. and i know.. how low is too low?? ;) are they progressive springs or single rate?
Rod

I have to sell them to help finance the new ones .... especially if I have to buy these german ones, we all know HOW expensive they are !!!!

Maybe I should try and sell myself, or better still sell Rod ???

Anyone interested in a slightly used, well serviced 33 year old ????

when you saw miriam at valla i had the h&r springs in. they lower 50mm but ya need to get someone with veedubya experience to fit. my boys up here who did them last year didnt know what they were doing so thuse me having to replace everything now because of it.

dont know what pro or single rate means but they are just the springs not full replacement adjustable coilovers. this is what i have now and its lowered it another 15mm in the front.
:blah:blah:blah anyway...cya

blutopless2 - January 18th, 2005 at 09:08 AM

i think for the cabrio 50 mm might be a little low... we were looking at 30mm springs...
progressive springs mean they can change the stiffness depending upon the compression.. ie they can be soft for small bumps but harder for sharp bumps so that you dont lose the cumfy ride.... single rate are just that.. either soft or hard or somewhere in between.
have been talking to a company that deals with german cars as a specialty (and he seemed to know what he was on about) so they would be the ones to fit the springs and hopefully get our wheels through them also.
Rod.

yeah trace was looking at your pics from VWMA last night. like the look and not too low.... just have to sort out the width issue with insurance and then maybe think of going 19's.... just depends on the bank manager lol... that bastard is always trying to spoil the spending spree!!! :thumb

we got the first modification done last week... will post piccies soon but wanna wait till we get the mags on and lowered for the complete look...
trying to get it all sorted for when we go to newcastle next month.

i agree... i dont want too low... still want the comfy ride.
at this stage i'm pretty sure we are going to nationals.. this time i would be coming too as i am definitely not working over easter this year! but have to see whether mscabrio wants to defend her crown or not.

Y2K - January 19th, 2005 at 07:09 AM

she better come up and defend her crown...im trying to get time off to come down and give her some competition:thumb

mscabrio - January 19th, 2005 at 01:47 PM
