after removeing 1 head i found loose valve insert head is un repairable so i am looking for 2 heads for 73 kombi 1800cc either to bolt on or have reconditioned then fit i live in east victoria & work away during week so only check mail on saturday the other head is comeing off next week & may be suitable for repair i do not want performance heads as van is standard condition any reply will be answered Ray
I have a single 2L 3/4 head which has a hairline crack extending a little way from the valve... dunno if it is any use to you, but i thought it my be
worthwhile mentioning it anyway ... I've heard that heads can be welded,
but not sure of the finer details. Also I have a feeling that the valves may be different sizes.
Anyway though, do some homework and act accordingly..
Cheers
thx schmoburger i will do homework & reply next weekend i forgot to say before that i work away & only get a to check this site at weekends Ray
I've got one 1800 head, bought by mistake (I thought it was a 1700). It was sold to me as "good used". It looks OK, no cracks that I can see. It
may have a stud or two missing (I needed a couple for my 1700 heads).
I can email pics if you want.
$150
Give us a bore size and i'll get back to u.I have a couple of sets of type 4 heads.
IIRC 1800 bore is 93 mm and 2000 is 94 mm

You can also tell by the casting number (it is beneath the rocker shaft) what the head was originally.
