Rob

I remember this motor??

Dave Becker did it......and that speaks for itself!

Bloody bargain

StenGuns - March 22nd, 2006 at 09:31 AM

Thats right.. Dave rebuilt the engine around a powertune counterweighted crank.. After the time and effort he put in I just wish I was going to enjoy it.. Someone will I'm sure..

Is it based on a 1600 type 1 case??

Engine number would help me.

Thanks
Marty

You know it's a quality engine if Dave built it.

StenGuns - March 23rd, 2006 at 09:04 PM

The Engine was originally in my 71 Dual cab and is setup to go straight back in.... Bolt it onto an 1800 box.. Or upgrade to a 2L box with a bit of swapping around.. I can supply the 2L box if needed..

Fully rebuilt 1916 cc Type 1 motor
New Case - Brazilian
New Pistons and Barrels - Mahle 94mm
New bearings throughout
Hand ground counterwighted crank shaft - Powertune
Engle 110 camshaft
043 Heads.. Long reach spark plug.. Big inlet valve
Scat Lifters
Doghouse Oil Cooler

The motor was built by Dave Becker.. He will happily talk to genuine purchasers about this engine..

It is still on the pallet that it was when it left Dave..

Any HP figs for the engine?

StenGuns - March 25th, 2006 at 05:19 PM

Only been cranked a few times to oil it up.. Never been started.. Sorry no performance specs.. The compression is set to 7.5. Ideal for a Kombi or baja.. Not a race motor..

I built this engine for Rob before Christmas, it was rebuilt with almost everything new, with the exception of the crank and rods, these were Powertune items and still in perfect condition.
I would say this engine would put out around 85 - 90hp at the rear wheels, it is built for reliability and should run for years if serviced properly. Rob wanted this engine to be "just right" no corners cut. I have run the engine for 20 min on a stand, just to run in the cam in, it needs some final jetting and is ready to go.
This is a bargan at this price, couldn't be built for that.
