1962 Volkswagen Beetle's correct engine boot lid.
62ragtop - June 8th, 2006 at 08:16 PM

Hi guys! Needs some advice about the original 1962 beetle engine boot lid. What should it be? I am pretty sure it is a pope nose but how about the grove on the deck lid? Does it come down all the way and slightly curved? Or only come down half way but no curve? Defenitely not come down all the way and curved all the way(W Deck lid).

And of course, does anyone have a good one for sale?

Please advice!

Thanks!

a 62 decklid would be like so:
http://i11.ebayimg.com/01/i/07/37/e3/cb_1_b.JPG

same on 58 to early 64 beetles
the rib in the center with no curves at the bottom is from 64-67 beetles with the wide beak

Hi,

that is the wrong number plate lamp on that deck lid...
thats an early beetle light... oval.... from a "W" deck lid..

its made of steel....

the 58-64 is made of a cast alloy ...

slightly smaller in height.....

The deck lid is correct.
The popes nose is correct , its the small cast type, which looks a lot like a w deck lid popes nose from a distance.:thumb
