62deluxe - June 24th, 2006 at 02:05 AM

We don't have a shop front as such (not a big enough scene/spenders here to justify) but we do carry a range of rubbers, wheels, accessories etc plus heaps of secondhand and NOS parts.

62deluxe - June 24th, 2006 at 02:06 AM

Ahh, thinking hard about this one???? Where do you normally go and get your notch fixed or bits??? Even have nine registered VW specialist businesses in the state, the locals must have trouble seeing the forest for the trees.

62deluxe - June 24th, 2006 at 09:41 PM

Same old same old.....
Money talks kids!
Well said Rag!

ragtopp - June 24th, 2006 at 11:32 PM

Fair point handy cam, put do you see the goods that you order from mainland stores before they arrive in tas?
What sort of people are going to keep everything in stock in the state, when most people only use the locals when the big shops either cant be bothered with them ,or the parts are obsure and hard to find.
Some particular vw outlets in this state have more parts than most of you would realise, not only new but second hand. If people viewed the second hand stock available, fair dinkum you would shit your pants for want of another description. These areas are off limits to all but the owners of such stock, if you dont ask you dont get.
What about that lovely old 60 model bug you are driving to Valla? I think that was sourced from local vw businesses wasnt it? That wasnt the first or the last. If you dont get a good car to start with, there is nothing to put all the bits in the world on.
There is more angles to VW businesses than a wall full of crappy Tiawanese empi products. Some are into getting old volksies back on the road, and that is what many local guys do. Yeh there is a market and a need for the above mentioned stuff, but there isnt much point every shop in the country stocking the same shit. I have many mainland fellas come and chat and try to source hard to find bits for restos, not all parts belong on expensive shop shelves for the masses.
Thats my angle anyway, no anger, not pissed, just stating the obvious from my point of view.

62deluxe - June 25th, 2006 at 01:58 AM

Thanks Ragman, well said I say. I'd have said something pretty much the same only I'm too lazy and too slow to type it all!!!!

Drowning in NOS and secondhand I say!

62ragtop - June 25th, 2006 at 02:49 AM

I hope i did not started something here........but anyway, 62deluxe you still haven't tell me where to go man......:?:

fair anuff ive helped many people with hard 2 get bits from mainland even given them stuff 4 free if its no good 2 me as second hand stuff u may have nos what ever " but if the man wants 2 come look at vw stuff on the shelf so 2 speek he beter off in melbourne thats my opinion" anyway 62ragtop mate u have my u2u have a good trip if i dont here from u just trying 2 help:thumb:thumb

jonno-t3 - June 25th, 2006 at 03:25 PM

hey dude... the only place i know of so far is "volks imports" in invermay, launceston. they're more of a mechanical service but they do have a fair range of parts out the back etc. if you ask. depends on what your looking for i suppose. but appart from that, i havent found an actual store that has on the shelf parts etc etc.

here is the yellow pages advert

jo_tas - June 25th, 2006 at 10:21 PM

Sorry, when someone says "shop" i think of a place you can walk in off the street, with shelves full of VW parts.. where you can just browse and then take stuff to a cash register.

Sure, we have BUSINESSES (and damn good ones too) but we don't have a shop, not somewhere where anyone can just walk in and have a browse... window shop as such..

Thats what i meant, didn't mean to offend!

BUT, i think what the guy was originally looking for was somewhere where he could just go and have a looky see...

62deluxe - June 25th, 2006 at 10:53 PM

People just "looky seeing" is the whole problem.
Who could afford to open a shopfront when people only want to come looky?
No one is offended I just think locals need some perspective here....
If people seriously want something we (and others) do our very best to get it at the best price we can.

62ragtop, just u2u me or call either of the mobile listed below and we'd gladly catch up and talk VWs etc etc

jo_tas - June 25th, 2006 at 10:55 PM

Yeah, well i'd be buying alot of stuff through you guys if i could find a job in this shit hole of a state.

jo_tas - June 25th, 2006 at 11:07 PM

And maybe what you guys need to realise, is that people that go to "looky see" have friends who are also into veedubs, so even though they may just be looking, when they have money, they're more likely to know where they want to go, especially if the people in that shop were nice to them, and welcoming.

Its the whole attitude of "if you don't have money we don't want to know you" which too many businesses have which annoys me in tasmania. sure, you're running a business, not a charity, but the point is that you need people to want to spend money there, not feel like they have to spend money there cause they don't have a choice. you need to make them like you!

I'm not saying this is what you guys do, far from it, but its just the general feeling i get from alot of businesses, which really bugs me.

Sure, i don't have any money, and don't buy much, but i still like to know what i'm doing when i do have a job.

Its very hard to indulge in a hobby that you have no money to spend on.. its been like that for me for the last six months, and its really getting to me. So i guess hence this little rant.

Ok, i've got it out of my system now. I would say i feel better but i won't until i have money to get the rust fixed... new rims... new rubbers... new paint... for my poor little negelected notch.

:blah:blah:blah:blah:blah

:duh
