WANTED: RUST FREE bare body
bajachris88 - June 27th, 2006 at 07:07 PM

Something we all want i guess :P, just seeing if any are available soon. For a vw 1969 beetle. So 1500 bodies would be excellent :P. Bare/semi bare, don't wanna pay too much.
Or...
Think anyone got a lwb buggy body instead?

Nah, that would cost more, but yea.

HotRodMatt - June 27th, 2006 at 07:47 PM

Prepared to ship from sydney?

_dmb_ - June 27th, 2006 at 07:55 PM

Volkswagenboy - June 27th, 2006 at 08:08 PM

He's up to number two... IMHO, I think you should stick with the one you have Chris.
-Staggers.

karmen - June 27th, 2006 at 08:09 PM

just had a shower Chris and checked no rust and spose i was bare

too cold to stay that way though lol

bajachris88 - June 27th, 2006 at 08:21 PM

lol, so does that mean ur not a man of steel ay karmen? hehe.

Hmm, shipping from sydney. That will cost more than hte car, Lol. Will keep it in mind though.

Body wise, this is the 2nd wastage, unless ur willing to swap a rustless one for a rusty one :D, if ur that concerned about not throwing away the rusty ones, hehe.

karmen - June 27th, 2006 at 08:33 PM

HotRodMatt - June 27th, 2006 at 09:01 PM

the bonnet is RS
there is a patch in the left (i think) front footwell
the rest i'm pretty sure is rust free.

guards are already gone.

I'll have to check it out - haven't looked at it in 6 months.

bajachris88 - June 27th, 2006 at 09:39 PM

hmm, this patch? its a worry :(

like, as in a patch of rust? or pre-welded patch? or just surface? or something small enough to be filled?

karmen - June 27th, 2006 at 09:45 PM

i have to say we are rushing it put it up for sale u have a lotta vwers down in the big smoke
Chris feels pressured I feel for him ...lol

Chewy - June 27th, 2006 at 09:46 PM

Buy a welder and save that poor body cause no one else will!

bajachris88 - June 27th, 2006 at 09:46 PM

lol, its alright.

Its just a thought process. its hard to really know if a body is clean of all rust, unless someone has tinkered in alot of areas with it for about a monthish...

usually if theres rust, u tend to find more somewhere else, and then a bit more here, lol. But u neva know.

So u getting a splitty ay mate? NOICE! she gonna be parked next to ur KG?

HotRodMatt - June 27th, 2006 at 09:49 PM

These are the only pics i have here.

The patch is welded in. Inside the wheel arch. Needs grinding as the welds are pretty thick. If I can get there tomrrow evening your mate can have a look while he's local and let you know.

I was gonna use the body so it's a good base. Like i said i haven't looked at it in a while so don't want to push you into it. It's just sitting on the pan, unbolted.

bajachris88 - June 27th, 2006 at 09:54 PM

Ah, its welded in ay? Thats good then.

Well, if karmen can have a great look at it, will be awesome then. By the way, LUV THE RATTY FASHION!! that is hot!

If u can have a looksie, that would be highly appreciated mate, would luv it. I got the money in cash at the moment, will have to call round to a bank if things go swell after the mornin' inspection.

I really appreciate this opportunity Matt, thanks mate.

bajachris88 - June 27th, 2006 at 09:56 PM

karmen, what would u ask for freight u rekon? would it fit on board without damage?

bajachris88 - June 27th, 2006 at 10:31 PM

Tell ya what Matt, tis alright mate, Big hike tryin to get it up to QLD. I'm sure hte boys here wouldn't like want me laying a finger on another innocent defenseless bug, hehe.

Thanx for the offer though, will keep it in mind, something has just turned up, thats all. On the bright side, its open here now for anyone else interested :D

HotRodMatt - June 27th, 2006 at 10:47 PM

No probs... might just keep it for something a little down the track.

Who knows where some of those curved bits of steel might fit into somethign else I'm building.

bajachris88 - June 27th, 2006 at 10:50 PM

always handy. I'm sure it will go to good use. :D

Hehe, the decklid or bonnet might make a good sled. U got any groovy Rod projects to show off? :P or any teasers of whatcha up to? I remember photos of ur yard with rods in ur driveway, was my idealistic view of heaven.
