WTB - Back Seat Clippy Thingy
The_Bronze. - September 12th, 2006 at 10:21 PM

Looking for the thingy that stops the back seat flying forwards and crushing your three kids in tool boxes, camp ovens and firewood when you hit an immovable sanddune head on.

There is some sort of hook or clip missing that holds the back seat in place and stops it flying forward.

Does anyone have one, know the name of it or even a part number so I can get another.

Never seemed to bother the kids before but I reckon the blue slip guys gonna ask for it.

Crap - I always leave out the most obvious / important bit.

Its a 71 Import. Type 1 of course.

Thanks Karmen

There is a hook that is part of the seat.

That latches onto a bracket that bolts to the passenger side of the car.

I have a "car" bit that you can have. It is presently wedge between my fence and a steel pole holding the fence straigh. I am sure i can find some thing else to do that job.
have a look and see if there is a "hook" bit on your seat. there ":should" be a clear plastic strap you pull to release the hook.
No point having the latch if there is no hook

The_Bronze. - September 14th, 2006 at 07:59 AM

Ok - now were getting somewhere.

I have the clear plastic thingy and a hook that seems to be on some swiveling pipe piece. I can see what it is supposed to hook onto which must be what is missing. The rear kick panel beside the rear passenger has been replaced and recarpeted by the previous owner so I suspect they removed it then.

Hopefully its the piece you have because I done even know what it look like and/or where it would go.

Can anyone post picture of how it goes together?

Cheers all.

I will let my fence fall over and take a pic for you. (hopefully tonight)

The holes are part of the car - so it is just a matter of screwing it back in.

Bronze - if ya want it tell us. They are special screws. I will dig round and see if i have them

The_Bronze. - September 15th, 2006 at 05:41 PM

Mate -

I would hate to have you re-engineer your fence. But hey, what can I do.

Guys it would be great if you can help me out with latches and screws. I think the wife would appreciate it too. She won't let me register it let along the blue slip guy without securing the back seat. I was going to fasten it with a seat belt but thats no good apparently either.

U2U me prices and accout details andI'll reply with my address. It's for carting my three ingratefuls.

Hopefully we can all go camping again soon. Mabey these holidays.

Now I need to finish chasing those exhaust pipes.

Can You show Me what the screws look like...
Just found this post looking for something else...
but I have the allow seat bits that screw into the car but not sure what the screws look like...
I'm presuming they are countersunk head, and fairly Long??
I must have the screws somewhere, as I've pulled a few of those alloy parts off cars...
My rear seat is moving back & forth...
and the seat buckles all keep going down under....
