WTB: Type 3 seats...
PrettyBlueBug - September 24th, 2006 at 12:12 PM

My '69 Fasty's front and back seats are crap to say the least.

*pics soon*

It's a major effort to move the front ones back or forward, and the material on both is ripped and had it. The springs are all good though, so what I want to know is this:
a/ should I get the current seats recovered?
or
b/ does some nice person out there have some good second hand seats I can buy off you (preferably Melb)?

Please u2u me if you can help in any way....

Rcovering the seats is fairly easy cos the covers just a slip on, one for the bottom and one for the top. I know somebody who has had NOS covers for sale at the last few swaps, pretty sure they will have them again at the Bacchus Marsh Swap next weekend. If the springs and padding are OK, you could DIY in a day. You would have to take the seats out first, but this would let you fix the other problem. Getting them recovered by a pro will cost $300-400 each (based on what I was quoted a few years ago)

Generally the front seats don't move because A) the plastic covers over the runners are stuffed and B) they are full of crap. The plastic runners are available on ebay and probably from a number of forum sponsors. Pulling the seats out the first time is a PITA job, but once done is well worth it. If you decide you DIY, I can tell you how to do it, there are a few traps.

Not really after just the covers... would be looking at either buying a clean set of front and back seats, or else having the current ones re-upholstered....
