WTD: 6 VOLT H/light bulbs...help???
dvs_vw - January 10th, 2007 at 10:26 AM

I'm chasing a 6 volt headlight bulb for a 59 bug, maybe a few for spares aswell, went to Mick Motors yesterday, no luck. He said it was an original style semmetric bulb, its a dual filament 35/45watt, he only had slightly later asemmetric bulbs, anyone have any ideas where I could find thses bulbs???

Thanks heaps!

thanks for the help guys! I was on the phone ordering some bits and thought I'd ask if they had any, so I have bought 2, along with a few other bits from ClassicVeeDub, he says they are the correct ones for my bug, so when they arrive I guess I'll find out. If they are wrong, I'll get in touch with the other suggestions, and post a pics of the setup in my car.

Thanks again
Michael

Your headlamps could have been replaced at some time...
plus there were different suppliers to VW...

I can supply a variety of 6 volt headlight bulbs from my own collection.

45/40, 65/40 Tungsten filament
35/35, 60/55 Halogens

All with three prong base. P45T H4 ??

Also have a good range of other 6 volt bulbs. (brakes, blinkers etc)

This is not an ad and I am not a business but happy to help anyone out who may be stuck.

I think he is after the Ba20d base 6v globes not P45T H4.They look like large brake light globles.

68AutoBug - January 10th, 2007 at 07:55 PM

You are correct.... Ba20d

I have given him all the info....

You can get the 6V QH bulbs from Adelaide...

cheers

Lee

57oval - January 10th, 2007 at 09:00 PM

do you know the wattage of the QH 6v globes

68AutoBug - January 10th, 2007 at 09:40 PM

from what i have read they are the same as the original headlamp bulbs so no relays etc have to be used...

they are NOT high wattage bulbs...

[which are illegal when used on the roads]
and usually melt the plastic plug on the end...
of late model cars..

I can help with BA20d also. NOS Philips bulbs.
35/35

dvs_vw - January 11th, 2007 at 11:18 AM

well classicveedub didn't end up having any, I think I'm going to give the ones in SA a go with the halogen replacements, depending on cost, and if they actually are just a direct replacement, which they say they are....anyone know the cost of the bulbs from them?

Sulla, how many of the ba20d based NOS bulbs have you got, and how much for 2 if you have them spare?
