kylemadden8787 - April 26th, 2007 at 04:07 PM

Hi all,

I am looking for carpet for my rhd Notchback or the rubber mats. I am also looking for a dealer badge. The one I had on my car fell off somehow when I was driving. It doesnt have to have a VW emblem on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I didnt know if there were any businesses selling carpet....Thanks Kyle

Har to find carpets but not hard to make yourself with carpet from Clarke rubber or Bunnings.I found that a lot easier to make on for the tunnel, seperate front and rear, that means rear, then bulkhead one for each side and then one accross rear seat .Good Luck.

1500S, I think our friend wants RHD. Sewfine are good for LHD methinks? Could be wrong?
I can make up a quality RHD kit (German Square Weave or similar), or supply an average quality RHD kit from another manufacturer if you're stuck Kyle. Depends on spend.

As I saw that this guy lives in Sacramento, California, USA, I missed the RHD bit! I think the message Sewfine gives is that they could cut the pedal holes as needed.

The ones I used in my Notch was a set with a moulded front mat from a place in Melbourne. After the second set of patterns being sent to them, I finally got the mats. Generally ok but pedal slots cut wrong for early Type 3. I guess it was better than the Sydney ones who never came through with the order even after 2 visits to their factory unit!!

You're right DH. The moulded ones leave a bit to the imagination, but it's better than a cold pan under foot.
Ray. Love to do carpet for the Frid. u2u me what you're after.

PS. Brad, those old rubber mats were nearly as cold as a bare floor!!

Got my carpets from this guy, only test fitted them once so far and they seem to fit alright.

I'll be definantly getting original squareweave one day but this set will do for now.

The kit I do is an (up to) eight piece that looks and fits just like the real thing, with a rub pad on the drivers side footwell piece, (see pic) bound edges and slots for pedals, and vents.
The carpet in the pic is a rubber backed, synthetic deep velour that I'm testing in my Fasty. Had it in for a month now and it seems to be pretty well suited. The rubber backing is great sound insulation. Remarkable difference in interior quietness with and without carpet.
