unsure - somewhere late fifties to mid sixties (they all should be the same) .

What are reduction hub boxes worth ? ? ?

they are not the same as 36 hp was a split case and no synchro on first gear mostly to 1960 as beetles

40 hp is a tunnell case and started aorund 61 as 40 hp beetles.

36 boxes have a meta bracket bolted onto carry the clutch conduit
hey also have smaller brakes.

40 hp has the bracket as part of he box case and bigger brakes (prob)

so yeah the red'n boxes may be same? but synchro on first in 40 hp

later ca 64? with 1500 engines coming in there was a big axlebox nut introed ...bigger/ stronger
so the red'n boxes and all else would be stronger i guess.

What happened to the split?

This is NOT the 36hp split type pre 1960 gearbox with no syncro on first gear. THIS GEARBOX IS the 40 hp tunnel type (with syncro on first gear)gearbox that started around 1961 to 1967. It has the cast type clutch conduit bracket as part of the gearbox & it has the bigger type brakes. Hope this helps ! cheers- Trent.
