And how do you transfer rego plates to non family members without selling them a car with the plates?

Hi Ray

Older personal plates don't attract a yearly fee, apart from storage, do these ones.

Bruce, I'm pretty sure that if these are pre annual fee plates all that you need to do is purchase a cheap car from Ray with the plates attached.

Yeah ok, they do need to be on a car and that needs to be transfered into the owners name...Otherwise only family members can transfer plates between eachother, do you have any daughters ray? Thats a way around it...

transfer your car into Rays name, Ray then puts the plates on, then Ray transfers the car back into your name.........................easy really.

you do not need a car
just get a form from the rta
people sell plates all the time :thumb

What craig said is right, you do need a car in NSW otherwise RTA wont do it...so just pay the transfer, hope ray doesnt run off with my car haha

Hi Ian

You can do it that way, but maybe the RTA would make the plates a yearly subscription item from then on, I don't know about you, but I don't want to give the mongrels any chance to put their hand in my pockets.
