WTD: 6200rpm rev limited rotor button
Craig Torrens - November 27th, 2007 at 09:59 PM

I have a 5800rpm rev limited rotor button fitted to my 1916 in the ragtop........I'm after a 6200rpm one if it exists ?? or even a 6000rpm one.

Cheers
Craig T

P.S. I know you can get 6500 but would prefer lower.

On a similar topic, I'd like to find one for 2500-3000rpm for a water pump application as it would be quicker and eaiser than building an electronic rev limit,

any info appreciated

Hi Glen

Its all in the spring tension, maybe you could modify an existing one for a lower cut-out. Is this for fire fire fighting?

I know its a little off topic but where did you get the limiting rotor from Craig?

I might be interested in the 5800rpm unit if you want to get rid of it later on.

Craig, why not use a Crane or MSD unit for rev limiting. I have a Crane Electronic Igniton unit in my Ghia. Fully adjustable in 200rpm increments and has a very soft limiter. Interupts the spark on every second fire per cylinder so the revs just flatten off. I used to have a rev limiting rotor, but that was rough as guts on the limit.

Grey 57, the Crane/MSD options would probably be an overkill for the car I'm wanting it for, as its not for race just cruising.
I want to remove the Autometer tacho (a tad too "boy racer" for me !) and just want a safe guard so I don't rev it too hard. I think I will just change to the 6500rpm rotor button, which is just before valve bounce with the standard valve springs !

Quoll, you have a PM .:tu:

Hi

Porsches used the same style of rotor with varying rpm limits. Check a Bosch catalogue for the correct one.

If the Porsche rotors fit the VW dizzy, then I think that one from a 72T 2.4 motor (like mine) is rated at 6500. Too high for you Craig. 3 are listed. T spec at 6500, E Spec at 7100 and S spec at 7300.

Cheers for that..............handy info :tu:

I'll go for the 6500 option.
