buy them new and save your life one day

MISS VDUB - January 14th, 2008 at 04:58 PM

Exactly Dave.
It's not worth being stingy when it comes to seatbelts. It could be the one thing that saves you. Dont try and SAVE money on something that could SAVE your life.
They arent too expensive anyway. Buy New.

Repco sells a good retractable belt that will work.

VWCOOL - January 14th, 2008 at 06:44 PM

wot they said - Supercheap at West Gosford

ratbug - January 14th, 2008 at 08:08 PM

Just bought some today.. Cost $90 each for retractables from Autobahn. But yeah, Repco, Super Cheap, Autopro they all sell them.

vw54 - January 15th, 2008 at 06:07 AM

Only thing is with retractables is you may have to weld in some brackets to mount them up

Make sure the person doing the job is a capable welder other wise the mounts may rip out of the body work better of sticking to stock belts if the car was fitted with them before

the retractables have to be set at the correct angle to make them work correctly

bump

The retractible belts will come with new 'stalks' that bolt to the holes in the side of the centre tunnel instead of that silly 'box-like' unit that VW has standard

You may need to track down a set of mounts from a 75 or 76 model Bug to mount the retractible mechanism at the base of the B pillar. I'd show you mine in my red car but I'm away for the next month
