WTB Type 3 Fuel sender - is there another option?
vwombat - October 19th, 2008 at 07:16 PM

G'day - I need a fuel sender for a '72 Type 3 that WORKS.

I have 3 which don't - is anyone using something else?

Muchos Gracias!

P.S. I have checked the electrics and everything is fine - the senders are the exception of course.

Email or PM please!

Pull them apart and clean the wire inside. I did this with the sender in my '65 Notch and it solved the problem. You have nothing to lose if you have 3 of them.

did you test the gauge first

take the wire off the sender unit and groung it to earth with ignition on and see if the gauge reads full

if its OK then clean as per above

Yeah, did that one - that's what I meant on the electrics.

Thanks though - I'll give one a munch and see what happens.

Does it have a good earth? Mine stopped working after I painted the tank and replaced the seals between the tank and the body. Once I installed an earth wire it was OK. To test just run a wire from the top of the sender to any good earth point on the body.
