hi guys,
does anyone out there have a decent used dual master cylinder for a Karmann ghia they want to off load? It's for a 61 model if that has any
relevance...
Cheers!
Anthony
og 1960 were not dual
I have one still in a box also the reservoir I believe $80
Also a good Golf one can be used... I also have one $60 much more compact
Hey thanks mate! Yeah I wasn't sure if most master cylinders would fit my car which is why I put in my year. Ok cool Ill be in touch. My cars been sitting for 17 years and pushing on the brake is extremely hard. Feels like it's seized. I should probably check it first I guess, but it's pretty rusty. I'll let you know.
got a 95 Seat one
still in car def. workin
like Golf but fresh and dual and res with electronic warning set up $70 del Fri lunch for $20 more

I suggest also fitting a VH44 booster under the L/H/S to improve the braking.
got the booster for you also mate
space and the hose to the back from the engine is an added job/cost, grumble....
don;t really need a booster on std eng Kg when u have disc brake version
is very light car
what model golf unit? any mod's needed?
i want any upgrade for my 70 bug pan im guessing it will work for kg and beetle.....
regards
Kev
Bushed, the better braking with less effort is well worth the extra time and cost, I fitted mine approx over 20 years ago and love the better stopping ability without both feet on the pedal under panic stops. The system has always been maintained with new parts as required as it was my daily driver from Taree to Tuncurry (40 km's of winding road) every day prior to the 60mph speed limits and road realigning.Cheers Les

Hi guys! I finally got my master cylinder out today. She looks pretty ordinary. Think ill be taking you up on your offer Bushed. I have no idea
about master cylinders. Here are pics of the one i ripped out. Bushed will the ones you have fit my car exact like this one? By the way i have drum
brakes not disk. Whats with the booster? is it easy to install? Sounds like a good thing to have... Im just waiting on my mechanic mate to explain
what all the extra stuff you guys have been talking about on here is and then ill be in touch
Cheers!
ps any idea what the one i pulled out is?
no prob as not much change from Mk1 to mk 3 Golf then soon after ABS came which I know nothing about
and guys if u have 2L mtr u better get a booster or anchor lol
isky if u have a stock engine it will be good in a karmann without the booster
disk brakes are nice to have instead.

Isky I am still running the stock drum brakes on my ghia with the booster as stated in the previous reply,(I was running a big bore ,worked 1600 with dual strombergs at one stage in my hoon days)the booster is not hard to fit, simply run a vacuum line from the engine up the L/H/S,mount the booster on the head frame opposite the master cylinder under the L/H steering tie rod,get some new tubes made to length and Bob's your uncle. The difference in the braking is astounding,it makes a much safer vehicle for a small cost.I have fitted quite a few of these units all with good results. Cheers Les.
