WANTED: Microbus Deluxe: Low Light chrome D or flip windows
firewalker - March 2nd, 2010 at 03:41 PM

Appreciating that they are difficult to find etc...

I am looking for 6 'D' or flip windows for ongoing restoration projects. They must be in excellent condition, fully functioning and fit Low Light main passenger compartment windows. Chrome is preferred over black painted finish.

If someone has 6 suitable windows that's perfect, failing that I will of course consider singular items.

Many thanks.

I would suggest looking at the Samba.com. The US had standard chrome ones and thats where I got mine from for my low-light. If you find any that arent rusted to pieces on Oz you are doing very well. From my understanding they are all the same from 1968 - 1979.

Whilst our dollar is good - give it a try.

Cheers,

Scott

Scott

Many thanks. The USA buses were LHD. How did you go about getting the right quantity and type of windows for your RHD?

Confused,

If you are referring to the opening windows in the rear passenger area there were only 3, one in the sliding door and on the drivers side, none in the rear passenger as it is a safety hazard.

There were one opening front quarter vent windows in each of the front doors on Microbuses only, these were always a chrome finish if fitted for Australia.

Same windows for left or right hand drive just how many depending on the side???

I have one in storage so if you are patient when I am next able to I will get it out and let you know.

Cheers,

David

firewalker,

I needed only the rear drivers side for mine, but the US only has the sliding door on that side so they often only have one. They are all the same size whether middle or rear. You just need to specify which side of the vehicle you need - ask the seller for the opposite side to the side you actually need.

I had no problem and I even got a perfect rubber with it - hence just slip it on. Mine are all chrome rims and work perfectly with NO rust at all. I was amazed at how many were avialable. Cost me $110.00 landed for the one I last got.

Just go to the Samba.com then go to Classifieds and scroll down to the Parts section and 68-79 busses.

Cheers,

Scott
