WANTED : Baja Guards
baghall - April 5th, 2010 at 01:51 PM

Hi guys,
I have a 68 Baja and am in need of a left side guard to suit. I have bought a set of guards but they turned out to be in poor condition and wrong style. I was hoping to modify them, however, not suitable. I have a single right hand side and would like to get a matching one for the left It is the width that is important as I am running 30x9.5 tyres and need the clearance.
Can any one help me out with one and what kit are they from?
I have attached photos to help identify.
Thanks

hi mate, They look pretty similar to my guards on my car, It is a "manx" kit. Although my friends baja has the same guards as me but his is a cheetah kit.... Black and red baja in VWMA a few issues back.

Hope this might help a little.
Mick.

They are cheetah kit style guards. I have a Cheetah kit, plenty of pics of my car about.

Manx buggies at Coopers Plains (QLD) sell the Cheetah kit:

Thanks Wes. Have seen your web page previously but didn't realise the kit was the same. At least I can now get the correct guards.

I think you'll find manx buggies is no longer around, Ted took over, moved and changed the name to VW and Volvo centre, he has nothing to do with buggies or bajas anymore except servicing them ofcoarse.... But i don't think he really even likes doing that anymore

Ted has sold out of VW & Volvo centre now.
And yes Manx Buggies hasnt been at Coopers Plains for a number of years

1916baja - April 6th, 2010 at 08:35 PM

really? probably for the best.... He just was not interested in VW's anymore.

Baja Wes - April 6th, 2010 at 10:24 PM

Last time I went there it was called VW and Volve Center, and Ted was still there. They still sold Baja Kits at that time.

Hey guys can you give me any other places or if you know of 2nd hand sets, I would be interested in them as well. I may even need to get a second set as my 18yo son is very keen to get a bug and convert it to a baja.

I will see if I still have my old kit (stored at my parents house), I was missing the rear spoiler bit as someone borrowed it and never gave it back :)

The left front and rear guards had taken some damage, but I had repaired them and they looked ok.
