Hi all, me on the scrounge again. After having secured 2 exterior rearview mirrors..and fitting the right hand one successfully, can anyone tell me if I should use a specialised inner nut inside the door or can I use just about anything that will fit.?
If it is the former...does anyone have a spare one they would care to part with for a few gold shekels?
Oh..as I haven't had the left hand door lining off...do they come fitted with the bolt already but no hole?

i got an old mirror at home with bad glass, think its off a later beetle will post a pic when i get home, could even be type 3.

Gazza the nut inside the door is usually fixed but if it is not from memory it is 16mm,I have used a Mazda 323 rear hub nut cut in half on a couple of occasions,if you are stuck pm your address and I will post you one .Cheers Les

Thanks for the offer Les, I think I'll get a stainless nut and large washer from a Nut and Bolt shop and use that. I wasn't sure if the thread was a VW only type of deal...stranger things have been known to occur.
