I have a brand new engine I have just finished assembling that would suit any type 1 , type 3 or early Kombi . All components are brand new and are of the highest quality . This engine has a comp. ratio of 9.34:1 and will have a slightly rough idle due to the camshaft . It has the following components ;

CB performance Los Panchito CNC ported heads with 40 x 35.5 mm stainless valves
Solid shimmed used VW rocker arms with scat swivel feet adjusters
new cyl deflector tin
Empi cro-moly 8mm head stud kit
In/out 26mm oil pump
New case install kit
New case nut and bolt kit
Billet dipstick
Scat stainless steel valve cover kit

This engine should be good for 130 hp and is suited for a set of Webers or dellorto's . This engine is priced @ $ 5100 and I can include a good set of 44mm Webbers or 45mm Dellorto's for and extra $ 650 for a complete kit including manifolds , air filters and linkage .This engine is located in Wollongong NSW and can be shipped Aust. wide via Toll Express , ROD , 02-42729920 .

Chris7 , this engine will fit into your type 3 without any modifications . I will try to post some pic's when I get a chance , but it looks like a new engine . I can also swap the type 1 intake manifolds and air cleaners for the type 3 units if you want the carbs , ROD , 02-42729920 .
