SPRINTSTAR - December 27th, 2010 at 06:50 PM

I have a couple of friends running this guy's beam in the US and swears by the quality and fit. I contacted him and he can do RHD,all new steel 4inch narrowed beams with or without shock towers and matching narrowed tie rods (unpainted), shipped to Oz for $450AUS! Refer link below.
He can also do cheaper on a group buy..let me know if anyone's interested by sending me a PM.
Cheers!

I did expect you to come in here soon enough, no need to bag the competition, this is a free market economy. I didn't go to your post and start something. Let's keep this friendly mate, just trying to help out other dubbers to save money especially in this economic climate.

Im just showing an interest mate, Lets keep the money In Oz and help our own economy!Free marketplace indeed i'm just pointing out the facts. There is is a world of difference between his beams and mine at the end of the day you get what you PAY for Aldo

SPRINTSTAR - December 28th, 2010 at 10:51 AM

I also believe in supporting the local economy first, given the choice if I can buy it here for the same price or close to it, my dollar would definitely stay here. With regard to the quality, that's a matter of opinion. I left your post alone I think you should do the same and let people decide on their own. Everyone else buy wheels, engine parts etc. overseas, this is just another product made available to all fellow veedubbers in this competitive global market. People please feel free contacting Andy directly regarding his beams or if you doubt his quality.

Cheers,
a

Please captainvw, if you wish to do further promotion on your beams, do it on your post which I have left alone:lol:

OK, what is the difference between a LHD and RHD beam? Narrowed beam that is.

There's a couple of differences... following all need to be swapped one side to the other:
- steering box mounting points (little welded on tab thingy's on the top tube)
- steering damper mounting point (welds onto the top tube)
- steering limit adjusters (on a bracket welded to the bottom tube)

It's not a massive deal to convert a LHD beam to RHD - take an hour or two to do it properly, paint etc...

Obviously if it was built as RHD in the first place you'd save that by doing it right the once time.

;)

Thatbrickhurts - December 28th, 2010 at 03:11 PM

OK, BUT early beams such as on ovals etc had the steering box locators on the left anyway, and most fresh steel beams dont have them at all. Steering limit adjusters are a balljoint beam thing and not existant on ANY aftermarket narrowed link pin beam Ive ever seen over the years. And on a narrowed beam, the steering damper gets thrown in the bin and as such the mount is not required. Doesn't leave much.

So are you getting a free one for pushing these over here in Australia?

captainvw - December 28th, 2010 at 09:36 PM

You could be onto something there.......

G'Day mate but how much is a link pin narrowed beam with the shock towers, narrowed leaves and tie rods (basically ready to install but unpainted); including delivery to Victoria? I've currently got a pair of narrowed spindles and will be running stock 5 lug drums for my 56 Ghia on DSR's. This is gonna be a serious looking car..a worthwhile rolling advertisement Give me the best deal mate!
Cheers,
AL
