Where are you and whats your budget?
vw54 - April 9th, 2011 at 03:25 PM
what do u consider over priced
volumex - April 9th, 2011 at 03:56 PM
The one on ebay for $645 is seriously overpriced. The last one I got on ebay was $145 in reasonable nick with hinges and popes nose (not technically
correct but you all know what I mean)

the one on ebay is especially for a 1954 only, is different to later ovals but will fit.
ooh & yeah its mine

The one I got was a 54/55 one as well - only difference is spring mount.
No disrespect re pricing - it's yours and you can ask what you like although correct me if I am wrong but hasn't it been for sale since at least
March last year.

hi,
yes, the spring mount & the large spring is different,
had I listed it on here last year, now using ebay.
the last 54 one I saw sold for $500 & that was well over a year ago.
& the last ordinary W lid I personally sold on ebay was $350 & it had more rust than this one.
have had few offers via ebay at $400, but its not quite what I 'm after though.
cheers.

you can have my W decklid for a $1000 no rust
and ready to paint
I have seen at the swap meets some dreamer training to sell rusty ones for $600
DieSchnelleKafer - April 9th, 2011 at 11:17 PM
hey christopher, that seams a good price when can i pick it up (chuckle)
Ragged: hi mate, well i live in W.A a town called bunbury 6230, i think i would be able to pay 200 for a workable decklid, im 15 so yeah
and in response to people trying to sell stuff thats stupidly overpriced, you can either go by "things are worth what people are prepared to pay
for" or you can sell something for what its actually worth

I have the '54/55 version with the large spring mount plate that needs some work, but is in good condition.
I am looking for $450.
You may find a rougher later model W lid for $200 if you are prepared to wait though.
Cheers

Everything sells for what it is worth. At the moment that an item is sold, then that is what the seller and buyer have agreed that item is worth. So
telling someone that "you can sell something for what its actually worth" is a pointless statement. A seller is correct in listing something for
what he thinks it is "worth" and the buyer has the right to submit an offer for what he thinks it is "worth" , then the parties can settle on a
sell price. I have items listed on here for over a week with people saying that it too expensive and how can you expect that much. I have then listed
same item on a international site and sold item same day (record was 18mins, including money in Paypal account
) so parts prices will always find the market (supply and demand) will set the price level. My2c

yeah supply and demand i guess

Well,
when You can't buy something NEW....
then its whoever has the money to buy it...
like in an auction...
and How badly YOU want it....
These parts are going to get more expensive as time goes on
as they get harder to find...
I see NOS stuff for VWs in Europe that I haven't even seen a photo of before or heard of...
Now they can be sold to the Highest bidder as another one isn't likely to appear ...Soon or maybe never????
LEE
PS: W deck lids will soon be welded onto the car....
If prices keep going UP & UP.... lol.. Lee
