Hi any one got a couple of 924 or thing stub axles for sale? cheers Aaron
So you want Type 1 with a type 2 flange yeah ?
thats it mate, tried to do my homework, are 944 stubs the same as 924?
Yeah, Rod Penrose has them new for less than $150 IIRC. They are strong even though Chinese.
ok, heres the go...i can use them for type 1 irs arms to have type II or type 4 cvs..which is good as i will use them...but the main project is i read
a post on the samba is that type 1 stub will fit upper reduction gear spline, i was about to get the original rgb input machined and cv flange welded
on when i read that post, so that is the reason, if it doesnt work out i can still use them for what most of you guys do...decent cvs in type 1 arms.
Why do i want cvs on rgb? well the eternal subaru box thing that old mate has solved with the reverse cut gear, but this is for dual range 4wd
slapstick baja Tassie style on the relatively cheap but reasonably engineered style
Pleases tell me im full of shit and that its a f@#ked idea, at least i will know where i stand
Possible.....probably
cheap.....no
well engineered.......that's up to you
f@#ked up idea........not in the slightest
Will it work........you tell us
Well you wouldn't be the first to put reduction hubs on IRS arm. VW did it in brazil.

That top pic is home made set up
I say go for it! Some issues with the suspension going up under acceleration but hey its a baja. I can't solve the dual range subie box thing anyway without casting new gearbox cases with the split input shaft on the left. And that's not gonna happen. I'm keen to see how that might turn out with reduction hubs.

"They are the same on the early 944 arms, the steel type arm that look like bug ones."
Thanks for that
I like what you are thinking and it is good to see people doing things outside the box. I will do you a set of Chromoly Stubs which are type 1 - type 2 CV for $160 delivered if that helps you out, I have them here on the shelf.
Brad I'm keen on a pair of these as well. Can you post some pix up for everyone. I'd like to see how they accommodate both sizes of CV's and if the stubs still have a retaining ring on the outside to hold the type 2 CV's on. Not that it's an absolute necessity....

, tossing up whether to cut snout of redux casting
and have input further into bearings, or space whole box off spring plate, i had considered using datsun half shaft plunger set up with adapter to cv
flange......mmmmm, i need a drink.
I have stubs sorted thanks, started thread here.............
