1700 rockers are 8mm.1800 or 2000 are 9mm.

Thats what I thought the sizes were, after ordering a set of 9mm from the states only to find they don't fit the 2L I'm building.
Checked all the rocker arms from a variety of engines I have, none of which are 9mm. They are all 10mm, I was told by the supplier that the 9mm are suited to early 1700 engines. If anyone can clarify this it would be much appreciated.

Either way, I'm still chasing 1700cc rocker arms so I can fit elephant feet adjusters to rockers due to high lift cam.

Thanks for any advice.

1700 rocker arms are also a ratio rocker arm as standard at 1.1 to 1 which doesn't sound like much but is better than nothing on a type 4 especially combined with 1800 heads

That's a 1.3:1 ratio but in checking intakes are approx 1.3:1 and exhaust are approx 1.27:1. This is what I have noted during every type 4 build I have done. Also the 1.7 rockers are an 8mm thread and the 1800 and 2 litre are 10mm thread. I have a spare set of 1.7 rockers for $120.00 these have been cleaned and ready to use although 0.060" or 1.5mm needs to be removed from face to accept Porsche swivel feet adjusters.

Thanks guys, I have sourced a set today and have answered my own question, they are 8mm. According to the supplier the 9mm adjusters are late model VW that fit the factory rhino 1.25 rocker arms, but having said that they also said they would fit my 2 litre and then changed this to the 1.7 type 4 rocker arms.

I'll go and get some 8mm elephant feet, thanks for the advice regarding the clearance factor and for the offer of a set Damo, I assume you're back home now?

Would you also recommend lash caps or is this overkill?

Adam

No need for lash caps. Yes I'm home not going back for a while now
