WTB NSW 5.5inch 4 lug stock wheels
mickya - December 28th, 2011 at 05:59 PM

Hey guys,

Im after 2x 5.5inch wide stockers for my 68 beetle. I have seen some home made jobs which looked a bit rubbish, after some factory ones in good enough condition to get powdercoated (no pitting). Was it the type 3s that had them?

Im in the Newcastle area, so someone close would be ideal, although i dont mind a drive to central coast, sydney or a little north.

Please pm me a pic here, or give me a call on 0411883526

Cheers!

As far as I know the only OEM 5.5" steel wheels were on limited edition Beetles only available overseas. Some Type 3's have 4.5" wheels. If you want 5.5" wheels you can get hold of some 6 cyl Volvo 15" rims (sorry, can't remember the model- maybe a 164 from the 70's) and have the VW centres professionally welded in to the Volvo rims. End result looks very good when done properly but will likely cost nearly as much as a set of Chinese made alloys nowadays. Mine were done over 15 years ago

Oh really? I was on thesamba and saw a guy with a US 67 with 5.5s in the rear, and he was explaining they are pretty easy to find in the UK. I'll keep looking and see how I go
