WTB 5x130 Drill Jig
1303Steve - January 13th, 2012 at 09:35 PM

Hi

I don't think that there wouldn't be a proper flat surface on a wide 5 drum to fit that bolt pattern.

Steve

hellbugged - January 13th, 2012 at 09:41 PM

No there isn't steve

hellbugged - January 14th, 2012 at 07:12 AM

well if you can make it work, i wouldn't think you'd need a jig.............the PCD is 130 and there are five holes, do the calcs

Sides - January 14th, 2012 at 08:54 AM

Ummm.... wow.

matberry - January 14th, 2012 at 08:57 AM

Crikey, get up on the wrong side or what.

These people DID help or are you blind

a. 5x130 doesn't fit wide 5 drums
b. a drilling jig isn't difficult to make, certainly if you can make 5 x 130 fit a wide 5 drum (like no one else on the planet can but hey) you should have no problem making your own jig.

Your the one posting rediculous requests and then you get pissed with the forum and posters.......welcome to you too big fella, feel free to make yourself known to us at Valla or somewhere where we may meet. I'd love to say hi. You know who I am........nothing to hide :)

I think they are saying If you can turn down a hub then 5x130 is straightforward with those skills. Why dont you try an old Porsche hub. Hub locate it and then you can drill through. Good luck. It easy with the harsh words. People have tried lots of things before and might be offering good advise. But If you want to do it then pissing off people who can help ain't getting you far. All the best

I tore the back off a corn flakes packet, using my high school protractor, drew a circle with a radius of 65mm (dia 130mm). Then by dividing 360 degrees by 5 = 72 degrees. Drawing a line from the centre point to where the line crossed the radius was where the stud should be. You could use pythagoras' thereom to calculate the distance between each stud along the radius, but knowing all should be equal, I gave that dumb ass the flick.
It is a simple jig, an answer to a simple question, and by making this simple jig, all the problems will be solved.
Oh and by the way, because the engineer didn't like the fact that what I had done was illegal (who would'a thought) I purchased a set of rotors that where purpose built for the particular stud pattern.
I know it sound a bit dumb, but now if my car is in an accident, my insurance company will not desert me.
Cheers Dave

(add disclosure statement here...)

Birdman - January 14th, 2012 at 07:11 PM

Please PM me or reply here anything thats available

(State isnt an issue, I will ship if I need to)

there isn't enough flat material to redrill wide 5s..
[and its illegal..]
that is why no one has done it...

if its for an offroad unregistered buggy then You can do it
[or anything]

You can buy new drums with the holes already drilled...

Come on people-in this new PC world we are supposed to make allowances for idiots,so leave him be.

AA003 - January 15th, 2012 at 07:33 AM

Another classic thread on AVD.

ancientbugger - January 15th, 2012 at 09:08 AM

Wow, he only asked for a jig, a simple yes or no would've sufficed. Nobody other than 'thatshimofficer' knows what he wants it for so I don't really see where all the grief has come from:fakesniff:

greedy53 - January 15th, 2012 at 06:24 PM

And the simplest way of marking them out is calculating the chord between adjacent holes:

Chord = Sin (180/5) x PCD :!:

There was a bloke on here some time back who made things like this jig for fellow Dubbers at minimal cost if any but can't find any trace of him now. Thought I found him but doesn't answer PM.

I've got a drilling jig that works perfectly........however I won't let it go to anyone who is rude!

vw54 - January 15th, 2012 at 07:49 PM

I like the Corn Flakes box pattent with the Protractor

Yep dont re drill new holes as the drums are very thing and wont take a new hole for a wheel stud

only just read this one should have read earlier

I think he may be from the southern states ( sorry Melb Peoples )

Can i borrow yr Jig Greg

I agree.

That's one thing I've found on this forum over the years, is everyone's been really helpful. We've always had our own ideas and ways of doing stuff, but never rude.

Calling us 'clowns', how dare he.

vw54 - January 15th, 2012 at 08:06 PM

I knw but its only a sumiisation ( i think )

So does anyone have any ideas of how we can help hm solve the problem

He Greg you have a good set of used wide five drums laying around

HappyDaze - January 15th, 2012 at 08:16 PM

Yes Dave, I do have a 'brand new' set of drums......only used once. One of the rears needs 'welding together', though.

As stated previously, the rear is easy as, replace with 4 stud style blank/Porsche pattern drums, the front requires a full brake conversion to do it. The easy way is buy a set of adapters, but we all know not necessarily considered a safe way and illegal.

Calcool - January 17th, 2012 at 02:30 PM

Not knowing what the poster is going to do here is my solution.

Buy a Genuine Porsche Turbo Wheel spacer from a Porsche Wrecker I bought mine from a mob in silverwater Sydney or you can get them from 911 in WA.

I used mine to convert a spare 205PCD drum to accomodate a Genuine Porsche Fuch into a Garden Hose holder, no engineers report necessary and I had the hottest Garden Hose holder in town! With a turbo wheel spacer!

Cheers,

David
