How about a thread for all to see of the rebuild of your dad's Swiss Froggy buggy , and as much as it would be great to rebuild it as it was when lost , a corvair six is a great hunk of cast iron to be banging from the back of any vw

Corvair engine weighs about 110kg

My dad did tell me that a big lump of a corvair motor did cause it to wheel stand on take off. I think restoring the Swiss buggy to its original guise will be challenge. The chassis was extensively modified to carry the corvair motor with a
Power glide tranny. Its a unique car and it deserves the same original layout....if possible. My dad, now 71, was so excited to see his creation again after 39 years it has rejuvenated a new spark for a father-son project.

Lee- nothing would excite me more than to slap a corvair in my semi-auto! It will certainly get rid of that flat spot I got! Otherwise my kombi will benefit as well !

Once underway, I will put together a resto documentary, including heaps of historical info on the Swiss buggy.

Thanks to dasdubber I have a lead to a potential corvair motor.

Cheers everyone

I hope you are lucky with your search and that the engine you find already runs the correct direction.

We have one if all else fails.
On the sunshine coast though if you don't mind to travel.

If you do find one you can get all the parts cheap enough to make it reverse rotation from Clarks Corvair in the states.
