Thats a pretty open question as there are quite a few variables .
Do you want irs or swing axle , what diff ratio etc etc

Cheers i got a bite,I currently have 74 beetle 1300 model,swing axel, motor now 2l,with 14 inch tyres,will be 95% highway use and told any 1600,type 3 box will be better than what I have ,Any thing out there.?

youll have to get a later 4 stud one as the early ones are wide 5 stud only and youll need adapters or youll need to change all the brakes over ,type 3 have big brakes so better off to keep them

Any long swing axle box with a 4.125 (of course a 3.88 would be sweet too) to make the installation easy, but if you find the right one (price/quality) any swing axle with the taller diff is what your after Mick. You've got a 2276 with 44 IDF's ported 043's and C45, the 1300 original trans will not be good for your engine with highway cruising in mind.

The good news is though , that the 1300 box wil be a sweet low ratio box for warwick but !!!!!!
