hey guys,
i bought this Country Buggy (KO063) towards the start of this year, its on the register and used to be yellow. a few of you might remember what i used
to look like??
well from what i believe those photos are roughly 5 years old, it used to be in qld and then an old guy out west nsw bought it and now ive got it.
while the last owner had it he painted it red, painted the wheels and disconnected wiring etc. kinda like a half resto i guess.
heres how it looked when i got it back to my place.
i bought it "not running" chucked a battery in it, checked the oil and it fired straight up!
ive since done a bit of maintenance here and there but its now rego'd and its currently my daily driver.
ive lifted the rear up to bring it level with the front, and put all terrain Yokohama tyres on it, got seats on the cheap and had to reconnect the
wiring and few other bits and pieces.
im planning to put the roll bar back in and get an upholster to make up a little bikini style roof like you'd see on an old flat fendered Jeep.
ended up using a wiper motor for a series 1 land rover, worked perfectly, and a slice of rubber from clark rubber for my wiper blade.
had issues with it not charging, ended up being the genny needed to be polarised again after sitting for so long.
ive only taken it off road once at the back of redhead beach, it went alright just waiting to go with someone else on the beach incase i get stuck
these things are awesome, got as much lift as a 4wd basically, and only weigh 850kg or so
it has all the CB running gear, including spindles, reduction hubs, etc. it has a 1600cc in it (still got the yellow tinware) and im unsure of what
gearbox is in it.
i do the groceries in it, mind my brothers head.
got an issue with it popping out of 4th and the gears are crunching a little, im going to try and re-align the shifter hoping this will help a
little
been a great little car so far and im keen as to go away camping in it and see if it can keep up with the regular 4wds
Great stuff!!
Love seeing an old car being used daily.
Thanks for the story.
Thanks for sharing,
I have been on the hunt for a while now, your making me want one even more!
Looks great well done keep on trucking :-)
It's good to see its back on the road and being used!
Regards,
Steve
Looks great I might see you driving down Hunter St one day , by the way I have a spare sticker Country Buggy Bill had made Its a small one with the
words Designed and made in Australia with the made in Australia logo .
Regards Arty
have you got a photo?
i might have to grab one off you
Heres the sticker with a 20 cent piece to get an idea if the size with compliments from the late Country Buggy Bill.
If you want one I will give it to you when I catch up with you, I only have 10.
ArtyP,
I've never seen one of those before. Bill Moore designed that, eh???
Looks pretty nice in this Yank's opinion.
I bet those could be reproduced very easily by somebody who is into graphic arts and vinyl reproductions.
Can anybody here at the forum attest to having those skills and the ability to reproduce these for the CB crowd?
OK......since we're still in the dark ages on the yard/foot/inch scale here in the USA, I didn't know how big an Aussie 20 cent coin was. Research
tells me its 28.65 mm in diameter which is 1.12 or 1 1/8 inches.
* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coins_of_the_Australian_dollar
By comparison, a US 25 cent piece or "quarter" is 15/16 of an inch (.9375 inches) is equal to 23.8125 millimeters.
What I'd really like to know is the actual diameter of the sticker itself.
Steve
Hi Steve,
Size of sticker is 2-1/2 inches Dia OR 65mm
The story behind the sticker is, I got sick of people asking me "how many Buggys were imported from Germany" so after talking to Bill about
how we could make a sticker for the windscreen he came up with two suggestions, the one which we picked and another one with a Kangaroo on it, Bill
then got tese ones made and sent me some.
Arty
I would love to buy one for my CB
I am not selling them as Country Buggy Bill gave me 12 I am giving them away The deal is I would like to meet the people, have a look at their Buggy
and give them one as I know very few buggy owners even though i have had mine since new.
Regards Arty
Evening Arty,
I too would like a sticker for our Buggy - a pleasing memory of Bill himself! Also happy to meet but the trip from Queensland in the Buggy would be a
trial. I had two t-shirts made for my wife and I - the front had our Buggy KO number while the back was 'Volkswagen Country Buggy - Aussie born and
bred'.
regards
Rob

Apologies surfpig!
I didn't mean to hijack your thread - your CB progress is well worth advertising to the broader world. We are a little envious of how well your CB
looks!
Well done!
Cheers
Rob
