so looks like I picked up a CB...
Heading out west on Saturday in the Kombi ute to collect it and bring it home, pics to follow here or instagram or facebook etc
Need a fair bit of work and the usual chunk of parts / panels but optimnistically planning on being there at Valla with it (SC Kombi is the back up)
Good stuff. Pics here please where people can see them forever under the correct searchable catagory..
Cheers Tony
Okay made it home safe and sound though mt Victoria was a pretty slow and steep climb towing the CB
home made roof off and looking better, though body off the pan and looking not so flash, has had an accident on lhs and will need to replace front
guard, bonnet, and lhs along with dash
Few pics to date
Body off...
Who is it that makes panels for the CB.?
Hi Griffin
Looks great, plenty of fun to be had there.
cbJohn is the bloke to talk to about panels. He can make a windscreen frame and probably other panels. They are fairly simple of course and a good
sheetie can make them if you have the measurements.
I like the LH front guard. They aren't supposed to have framework like that, someone did some great work in the past.
You have beetle running gear and probably a beetle chassis. CBs didn't have heater tubes in the channels or heater control cable tubes. Many people
use a late IRS chassis but some like "original".
You'll need a front "firewall" and heater channels no doubt. Buy the very best you can get (thickest). The cheap ones are very disappointing.
Then pull the tubes out of the channels and weld up the holes. Lindsay Wilson made his own channels, they came out really nicely, perhaps you can
too?
Good luck, and if you need to know anything just ask.
Cheers
Tony
thanks Tony, back on it this weekend and will go see John next week with a few pics and see what he has...
will be on a beetle pan, not to phased on originality though the landrover windscreen and beetle steering wheel need to be replced so it atleast looks
correct, will be using 5x205 wheels in black with some black hubcaps etc.
ideally irs pan and 1600 TP motor (will use the motor from my splitty and put in a bigger motor for the split)
cheers
Gordon
Lots of progress, lots of panels from the fabulous John at kelfab
Now on a later irs pan with disc front
Chopped out all the rust, and most of the LHS
New front guards, front, and lhs fitted today
Looked pretty bad for a while but looking more like a car now...
