Anyone with knowledge of KO 289???

Yes Steve. Its another one from out of the closet. There has been some rather extensive mods completed on this vehicle, many of which I dont quite understand the benefit of.
Seven days to run, will be interesting to see what sort of money it goes for if it exceeds the unknown reserve.
UNknown ~Buggies are still out there and you can be sure there are some genuine low mileage, great condition ones as well. Bring them on.

Yeah, that's right.
$3,000 AUD (2,786.40 USD)
9 bidders, 16 bids.
The real pity is we don't know anything about this CB other than what's in the ad.
We know it's KO 289 and that it was in Melbourne.
Other than those few facts we don't know where its headed and who bought it.
It's a shame to see these unknown CBs pop up only to disappear into oblivion again.
I hope someone can come up with some additional info.
I'm sure Bill would love to add this one to the Register, and I'm sure Graham is hot to add it to the Gallery as well.

Regards,
Steve

So it has a ball joint front end...

non VW odd headlamps..

beetle tail lamps..

it was probably rusted out if the chassis was replaced..??

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I see the front blinkers off country buggies can still be bought new... Hella... saw some at local auto shop

THIS ONE IS HEADING UP TO SINGLETON IN THE HUNTER VALLEY, NSW. I'M NEW TO THE FORUM AND COUNTRY BUGGIES ALTHOUGH HAVE OWNED MANY AIRCOOLED VWS OVER THE YEARS. PLAN FOR THIS AT THE MOMENT IS DROPPED RAT LOOK, WILL HAVE MORE OF AN IDEA WHEN I GET IT HOME CAN SEE FIRSTHAND WHAT SORT OF CONDITION IT'S IN AND WHAT WORK NEEDS TO GET IT ROADWORTHY.

CHEERS.

58camper - November 9th, 2009 at 05:27 PM

Good to hear from the new CB owner and to see that it will get restored even as a rat looker. The key is that it will be out of the shed and creating interest whereever it goes. You cannot imagine how much of a head turner these vehicles are when on the road. Would be interest to know the chassis number and engine details down the track and I will add it to the Register when I next do an update.
The Register is at

If you need any help or guidance with bits and pieces just give me a holler.
