Hi all,
Well after a few days over easter replacing all the brake lines, pistons and cylinders, and then working out the distributor drive is 180 degress out
of whack, K0342 lives again!
It's sitting on a very tidy beetle pan and running gear. Sills have had some metal work welded in - not too shabby.
Changed the oil, new carb kit, new plugs and leads, static timing and she just wouldn't start. lots of coughing and spluttering, but no go.
Push-starte her down the hill and she finally kicked over but was very very unhappy. so was I.
Slept on it then decided to check the firing order against the dizzy, leads and rockers, and aha - 4 and 2 are firing around the wrong way. moved the
leads around and she started first go! Practically blew the old beetle exhaust right off.
See it in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i0kznqT51o
Thanks for the help and advice from fellow forummers. All I need now is a lead on an exhaust and a backseat to copy. Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Bullyboy Steve
