Hi Guys
Were the 1967 beetles 6 volt or 12 volt?
My chassis number is: 197644158.
Also, I am trying to determine some information on the gearbox I have fitted to my 1967 beetle. There are 2 sets of number:
113-301-103
AB 26 04 3
From my searching ( http://www.partsemporium.co.uk/Gearboxcodes.htm ) it looks as though the gearbox was built of 26th April 1973???
Thanks guys for any help you can provide.
Regards
Greg
6 Volt
Depends which month yr car was made, after august 67 will make it a 68, a pic of the car would help. 67 - 68 is the changeover year for electrics as well as major body differences. AB code denotes 1300 box up to August 1970 (they went to IRS after that)
It looks like yr car is late 66 making it a 67 model.

you have a 197 chassis number so it would have been 6Volt
you have (if original) a 1974 1300TP gearbox with the 4.375 Diff ratio
Hi Guys
It is Stengun's old Blue 1967 and I am trying to figure out what everything is.
It is a swing axle gearbox. I also noticed that it has a plug on the nose cone for I think a reversing switch.

here the link to the build,
it should tell you everything about the car

well, there ya go.......it now has a 3.8 diff and the 4.375 was removed
ask VVDS they built all the bits for it
Thanks guys
So, in summary, it's a gearbox from a 12 volt 1974 beetle. The 1974 date also correlates to the 1974 steering column that was also installed in the
car.
