Steering Wheel trouble

I have a '70 beetle currently with a 4 spoke steering wheel. I also have an older steering wheel with the horn ring (below) which I really want to have instead. I only have the steering wheel and the horn ring, what else do I need? horn button...screws? I'm not sure what im looking for :crazy:

I have My original 1968 wheel I am thinking of putting back on
I have been using a late type 3 collapsible steering wheel..

there is a copper plate and 3 screws with springs and nylon spacers/insulators plus a small screw and nut to hold the horn wire..
I should have a pic somewhere..

Thanks Lee, Is there a kit you can buy? or a generic kit that fits most years? I'm looking out for one ...Let's try ebay :blush: :no:

Something to consider is that the ADRs for 1970 may specify a padded wheel, if you put the older style on it may be taking the safety standard backwards according to the authorities. Just a thought. I'm not sure if the wheel you refer to with the 4 spokes I'd padded. I know there are in padded wheels on later cars so it may not be an issue but you want to find this out before someone cracks their face on it and your insurance doesn't cover it.

I much prefer the classic wheels too.

The 4 spokes aren't padded in any possible way. If your head hits it in an accident, you'll sure know about it!

the 2 spoke wheel with horn ring was stock.
The 4 spoke wheel didn't start till 1972.

The horn pad on them was padded in some markets but not Oz.

Yeah That's a thought, and If it had padding I would keep it thanks pfillery :blush:
Mine does pull apart easily and it already has a crack down the middle anyway,the only padding it has is some 3mm plastic haha... the push face :crazy:
So I think I will go with the 2 spoke, I like the look of the older ones so much better

Ill just wear a helmet when im driving haha:lol:
