Hi Guys
Looking around to buy a 1600cc complete running engine for my 74 Superbug and finding alot of single port engines around! But I had wanted to buy a
twin port!
Which is better? What are the pros and cons?
I read this
"If you're using a stock 1600 engine, stick to single port if you can find them. Dual port heads tend to crack and drop the valve seats as they age
and go through the heat cycles."
Would love to hear your opinions?
1600, they cheap in USA .

if you are keeping it stock, I guess a single port is fine.
It is hard to buy new single port heads.
All twin port stuff these days. manifolds, heads
You can turn a single port into a twin port later.
But the cases are slightly different.
that said - Matt Berry just built a stroker out of a single port case
the comment you read has "some" truth to it, but the single port you will be buying will be an unknown second hand one.
Not a fresh one.
Check whatever motor for endplay and compression
if it is cheap enough - buy it and drive your car
i have traveled with both and for some reason the 1500 seem to be the hardest to catch
thanks for that i ended up getting a1975 1600 engine and am very happy with it it looks great!
