Hello,
I am very much a novice with VW.
I have a beam in the front of my beetle, what is the width measurement of a standard beam?
Ie, if I had a narrowed beam in my car, how could I tell?
Ross
It's pretty obvious if you have a narrowed beam as the wheels sit that much further into the guard. I know with my 4" narrowed beam that it's
blinidingly obvious it's narrowed.
If you can post a photos this may help, a year & model would also help determine width as i'm sure it changed alot between '54 & '76.
I don't have standard rims on the front, so not sure how wide these rims are and if they make it look wider than it is.
Will try and get some pics later today and upload.
Thanks
Measure across the beam from the upright seam to the upright seam on the middle of shock towers, i am away at the moment and have no access to my cars, maybe someone else can give you that dimention.
Factory beam is a little under 31 inches, the one in the front of my car is 2 inches narrowed. No where near as obvious as a 4 inch chop.
* this is for a '68. not sure on the early beam widths
