VIN

I am TRYING to locate the VIN numbers on my 68 to 74 Beetle. It has a fibreglass kit car body on it, so obviously no numbers there. Where, apart from
the body should the numbers be?

numbers on bugs are always on the tunnel just in front of the shifter junction aka under the back seat.
plus all are too old to have vins. we have chassis numbers.

Rather than starting a new thread I thought I'd ask here. My aluminium ID plate on my 64 is unreadable, so will that give me trouble for QLD rego?
